This is yet another sea-based adventure from the prolific Clive Cussler franchise that blends Cussler's shipwreck expertise with a, admittedly somewhat over-the-top plot, that thrives on good action writing.I am being circumspect in this review more because it awakens in me my inner self, which is a mixed blessing. This story refers to a couple of vessels sunk at sea in 1968. Just four years later, my small ship, Patrol Gunboat, actually, nearly sunk due to a collision in or adjacent to the Bermuda Triangle. What I'm getting at is that I sometimes reawaken old memories by reading books such as this one.Anyway, in regards to this Action-Adventure, the latest in the Cussler/Brown teamwork will, for most readers, be just good plain fun. As always, readers can count on a story with solid technical fundamental, mixed with interesting characters dealing with plausible what-if musings.Being that this is the 14th book in the series, and the fact that few will (or should) attempt to read this without having read several, if not all, of the preceding stories, I shan't attempt to go into great detail.BLUSH FACTOR: No worries here. Insofar as today's societal speaking habits, there are zero profanities. This book is suitable for all ages, Young Adult and older.CHARACTER: The added dimension in this story is the character development. Not only is it authentic, it features a, uh, rascally woman of beauty. As stated earlier, I need to cut this short. Suffice it to say, this is a action-packed page-turner I found worth my time and money.BOTTOM LINEFive stars out of five.I am striving to produce reviews that help you find books that you want, or avoid books that you wish to avoid. With your help, my improvement will help you and me improve book reviews on Amazon. Together, you and I can build a great customer review process that helps everybody. Will you join me? It is people such as you who have helped me improve over the years. I'm still learning, and I have a great deal yet to learn. With your help, I'll improve every day.One request: Be respectful and courteous in your comments and emails to me. I will do likewise with you.Thank you so much for indicating if this review helped you, or for your comment.

Sea of Greed, like Nighthawk before it, offered Clive’s standard bit of opening history, and of course the usual (NUMA) suspects, but in both books, the “bad thing” that needed to be prevented was more world-endingly bad and thus the stories more suspenseful than i seem to recall. but then, i’m getting older and, maybe, drinking too much Don Julio. bottom-line, kudos to Clive and Graham—well done lads.

Kurt Austin, Joe Zavala, and the rest of the Numa crew are back for more action and adventure in "Sea of Greed".The world's oil supply is dwindling. Rising costs have sent oil and gas prices skyrocketing. Plus, a disaster in the Gulf of Mexico has resulted in the loss of three of the biggest oil rigs on station. But the loss of the rigs isn't the main problem, for as the story plays out, something far more dangerous and deadly is at work.Joe and Kurt arrive in time to help with the evacuation of the oil rigs, but below the surface, something is destroying the underground oil; a bacteria that is physically chewing away at the oil, and leaving the oil fields dying. Behind the scheme is Tessa Franco, owner of a multi-billion dollar company whose goal is to abolish dependence on oil completely. With oil supplies now severely limited, prices are spiraling out of control, and economies are on the brink of collapse. The bacteria was lost years ago when a French submarine and an Israeli submarine vanished. Now, Kurt must find the agent that can reverse the bacterial process before it's too late. But Tessa and her henchmen have no intention of going down without a fight. The Numa files series is one of my favorites, and "Sea of Greed" continues in the fine fashion of the earlier books in the series. Cussler always seems to come up with believable stories that, in theory, could actually happen. The characters are well-developed, and the story is packed with action and intrigue. Cussler is one of the leading adventure writers, and "Sea of Greed" is perfect for adventure story readers. Highly recommended.

I have read all 90+ Cussler books and, though I have enjoyed all of them and would normally suggest that the Oregon series tended to be the best, I believe this latest release, The Sea of Greed, would be among the top 10 of the Cussler books. It reads well, is fast paced, and does not push the level of credibility to the extent that some of the previous Austin and Pitt books have in the past.Highly recommend it as a top quality piece of escape literature!

As usual,Clive Cuddler does not disappoint. When I first picked this up to begin reading it,it started outFairly slow, but then it steadily picked up the pace.I felt this is well written and the characters were believable. The subject matter is timely and believable.I must admit I missed seeing Dirk Pit,somewhere in the story line, and Clive Cuddler making one of his cameo appearances in this book.Overall an excellent read, worth the purchase price.
