Clark Finnical has just launched a new book entitled "Job Hunting Secrets (from someone who's been there)". After 30 years in the corporate world and five times in a job search, Clark understands firsthand what job seekers go through. Today’s job seeking world is run by recruiters, HR managers and hiring managers. As a result, there are a lot of myths, misconceptions and sometimes, downright lies that put the job seeker at a disadvantage. "Job Hunting Secrets," was written to level that playing field. Clark is also the author of 75 LinkedIn posts that help job seekers understand what's really going on in today's job seeking world and, most importantly, how to succeed in that world. He has also provided extensive pro bono career coaching. Clark’s experience as the Business Planner for a Flagship Product; Identifying and correcting $10M in under-billing and; Documenting how his department will use a new ERP system demonstrates his passion for mastering complexity. This has proven to be an essential skill in explaining today’s job seeking environment. He has a Master of Business Administration from the Kogod School of Business of the American University and a BA in International Studies from Webster University - Geneva. Clark was awarded the Competent Toastmaster certificate from Toastmasters International. He also received several awards for intercollegiate speech competition.

After 31 years working for the same company, the U.S. Army, I thought I was well prepared for the job market. Boy, was I wrong. Technology has changed the entire job seeking process drastically. What Clark Finnical does in 'Job Hunting Secrets' is significant on several different levels. First, Clark explains how many organizations go about finding qualified applicants, from Application Tracking Systems to External Recruiters, including job web sites. You first have to run this gauntlet before you can even get an interview. Next, Clark expertly explains how the interview is not just sitting down with the hiring manager. There's much more to it from practicing "positive self-talk" to developing Achievement Stories. Lastly, what I like most about 'Job Hunting Secrets' is how Clark continues to motivate you throughout the book to move through and around the inevitable obstacles and rejections with what seems like an endless supply of advice for every situation. Just know this, in my first hour with my new employer, I earned more than what I paid for this book. That's a pretty good deal. Buy it.

As a career coach, I never know what to expect when I read books and advice in the career field. Sometimes I agree with authors, sometimes I don't. This book caught me by surprise because of the deceptively simple layout. The information is presented in a way that is simple to both reference, skim, or read, in easily absorbed topical chunks. Even though the content is presented very simply, the book is extremely thorough. It not only addresses the self-defeating mentalities job seekers can trip over, and how to shift to a mindset of success, it covers things you don't know that you don't know, right down to the small details that can hurt your job search success.You can tell the author has walked a mile, or five, in a job seeker's shoes because this book truly thinks of everything, right down to questions you should ask, how to write and quantify achievement stories, resume samples, handling tricky questions, why you should leave your address off your resume, avoiding rejection by applicant tracking systems, and much more. I thought I'd heard it all but picked up interesting tips for my own career clients.If you're looking for a job, Job Hunting Secrets will give you what you need to tackle your search with confidence.

Practical, easy to navigate and hits all the big job hunting traps to avoid. You'll find sections on making your resume easy to read to getting through those frustrating applicant tracking systems to tips on how to get comfortable bragging about yourself in an interview and much more. Straight-forward advice is what we all like and here it is.

I am grateful to have the opportunity to share my review. As I read this book it became very interesting to me. I never knew that an employer paid so much attention to a resume, I mean the font you write your resume could get them to wonder.
